Our brewing recommendation

Among coffee aficionados, the AeroPress is a revelation. A small, $30 plastic device that resembles a plunger makes what many consider to be the best cup of coffee in the world.

THE INVENTOR 

Allan Adler, a Stanford professor, invented the Aeropress coffee maker. He is an inventor known all over the world with a knack for funny-looking plastic items. While his company (Aerobie) is mainly popular due to this advanced coffee maker .Adler himself was a long-time coffee lover, and he had pondered over the same issue for a long period. He had increasingly grown frustrated about most coffee makers of the time, since they mainly yielded 6 to 8 cups of coffee per brew. This meant that if you didn’t have friends, you would end up drinking the 8 cups by yourself.

he didn’t let the problem bother him long: he set out to invent a better way to brew single cup of coffee.

What do you need for a perfect coffee extraction? 

 Water, coffee, aeropress, grinder, digital scale, kettle, paper filter and a spoon.

How to make a great cup of specialty coffee:

STEP ONE

Heat the water to 85° or boil the water and leave it standing for 3/4 minutes.

Grind 30g of coffee medium coarse.

Put the filter into the basket, pre-heat and pre-wet it to get rid of the paper flavour and pre-heat your mug as well.

Screw the filter to the bottom of the brew chamber.

Place the brewer on your mug and the whole ensemble onto the scale.

Add coffee in.

start the time and pour 150ml of water or pour the water until the number 2.

Stir the coffee.

Quickly set the plunger into the top of the brew chamber to hold the coffee and water in place, to avoid it simply running through the filter paper. At this point take the whole brewing ensemble off of your scale.

When your timer says 1 minutes apply a gentle pressure pushing the brew coffee through the filter, please remember, gently!

Remove the AeroPress and place your mug with the brewed coffee on a scale Dilute with 100 ml of water or keep it and dilute it later.

Taste it and if you do not like it add other 50ml

The absolute crème de la crème of water treatment systems in coffee applications currently has to be reverse osmosis (R.O.). Traditional reverse osmosis systems use an extremely fine membrane to basically strip everything out of the water, leaving you with no hard minerals at all. However some new R.O. systems designed especially for the coffee market feature special blending valves allowing you to blend a variable amount of water that has bypassed the R.O. membrane back into your feed water giving you total control over the exact mineral content.

OUR RECOMMENDATION FOR AEROPRESS

If you want to use a long brew time, we recommend using the normal method but insert the seal on the end of the plunger a half inch or so into the top of the chamber to stop drip-through while waiting for your longer brew time.
